INTRODUCTION OF THE LABORATORY
The Component Test Laboratory allows to model and test the damage and wear of the turbocharger tribology system (bearings and shaft) due to different loads, as well as the service life of the component in different operating conditions. The operating conditions (temperature, lubrication, rotational speed) can be accurately set.
And as an additional feature of the test bench, it can be used for experiments in the field of thermodynamic and acoustic investigations.
INTRODUCTION OF TESTS
Name of the test | The standard on which the test is based | Accredited test Y/N | Short description |
---|---|---|---|
Effect of oil supply on turbocharger vibro-acoustic behaviour | Not relevant | N | During this test, the turbocharger is operated under different types of lubricating oil and different lubricating oil pressures according to a so-called inflation curve. The measurement can be carried out at full oil withdrawal or at values between the maximum range (0-5 bar), while accelerometer sensors are used to detect vibrations on the turbocharger bearing housing. |
Effect of oil temperature on turbocharger rotordynamic behaviour | Not relevant | N | The principle of the measurement is to investigate the change in properties of different types of oil under the influence of temperature, from room temperature up to 150 degrees Celsius. In this test, the results are also evaluated using a run-up curve. The changes due to different oil temperatures are processed using accelerometer sensors and microphone signals. |
Oil consumption measurement | Not relevant | N | ÖVM-4 equipment is used to detect the amount of lubricating oil consumed during the tests under different operating conditions. |
